Set into the mountainside, this contemporary residence is conceived as a floating horizontal plane, an architectural response to both topography and horizon.

The structure lightly engages the hillside, minimizing its footprint while maximizing its visual presence, allowing the surrounding Sonoran Desert and ancient saguaros to remain the dominant landscape elements.

The design is driven by a disciplined linear geometry, where strong horizontal lines are softened by layered metal partitions that act as both brise-soleil and sculptural accents. These elements modulate light and shadow throughout the day, creating a dynamic façade that evolves with the desert sun.

The main level is organized as a continuous open volume, prioritizing primary living functions within a transparent envelope of glass. Here, architecture dissolves into view framing unobstructed 360-degree panoramas that extend from the rugged terrain of Cave Creek to the distant, shimmering urban grids of Phoenix and Scottsdale. The upper level, more private in nature, contains secondary bedrooms and a junior primary suite, carefully positioned to capture elevated sightlines while maintaining spatial separation.

Outdoor spaces are conceived as extensions of the interior program rather than afterthoughts: layered terraces, a sunken firepit, shaded patios, and open sundecks create a sequence of experiential zones that respond to climate, orientation, and views.

This is a study in restraint and precision, a lock-and-leave dwelling that prioritizes architectural clarity over excess, delivering a low-maintenance, high-design living experience rooted in its desert context.
